Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. has been a curious title since its announcement at E3, but today's Nintendo Direct told us a little more about the game, and may have just piqued more interest.
The strategy RPG, now slated to release March 13, will also include amiibo functionality. Gamers who have amiibo from Fire Emblem can utilize Marth, Ike, Robin, or Lucina to include them in their parties. However, it comes at a cost: true to the Fire Emblem experience, should one's amiibo fall in battle, they're not coming back until after the mission succeeds or fails.
Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. puts the fate of the world in the hands of Abraham Lincoln and other historic and literary heroes, because why shouldn't Marth stand beside good ol' Honest Abe? The Fire Emblem characters will bring their traditional weaponry from the series into the new game, such as Marth's trusty blade, Falchion, which will be utilized in the battle as well as in special moves.
Nintendo also announced that Lucina and Robin will be coming in a later wave of amiibo, and that Marth, the hot buy of the first wave, will indeed see a reissue later on in the year.
