Users who were impacted by the 2011 PlayStation Network hack, which affected over 70 million accounts and stole user data including credit card information, may now file a claim through PSNSOESettlement.com.
Despite the settlement, Sony wants to ensure that this does not correspond with guilt: "Sony Entities deny any claims of wrongdoing in this case, and the settlement does not mean that the Sony Entities violated any laws or did anything wrong."
That said, if you had a PSN, Qriocity, or Sony Online Entertainment account before May 15, 2011, you may request documents from Sony's Claims Administrator, calling 1-877-552-1284, or using the online claim form at the aforementioned website.
Possible compensation includes the following:
– For PSN accounts inactive from May 15, 2011 to June 13, 2014, payment equal to virtual account wallet (if $2 or more)
– For PSN accounts still active, a free game for PS3 or PSP, 3 free PS3 themes, or free 3-month PS+ Subscription (once valid claims exceed $10 million, this will be reduced to 1-month)
– For Qriocity accounts, one free month of Music Unlimited
– For SOE accounts, $4.50 in SOE Station Cash
– For cases of identity theft, users can receive up to $2,500 if you can prove the 2011 PSN hack was indeed at fault for it
Claim submissions must be filed by August 31, 2015.
