Sony Unveils PlayStation Heroes Program

Sony announced PlayStation Heroes on the PlayStation Blog earlier today, a new program that allows fans to play games with celebrities and donate money to charity in the process.

The company will release the PlayStation Heroes app for PS4 on February 24th, and every dollar spent on digital content through the app provides users with one sweepstakes entry. Ninety percent of those funds will go to the Make-a-Wish foundation, the USO, and the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Sony has already donated $100,000 to each charity to kick things off.

The first event takes place in mid-March with snowboarder Shaun White. He'll play Destiny with some lucky fans, and all money raised for that particular event goes to the Make-a-Wish foundation.

Future celebrities include NBA all-star Stephen Curry, rap legend Snoop Dogg, and MLB player Yasiel Puig. Though the Heroes app doesn't hit the PlayStation Store until later this month, PS4 owners can pre-order it today.
