Originally slated to launch on March 17, 2015, the upcoming racing simulation Project CARS has been delayed to April, as announced by Bandai Namco and Slightly Mad Studios.
Project CARS was originally given a release date of November 2014 before being pushed to March 2015. This second delay pushes the PC version back to April 2, the Xbox One and PS4 versions to April 7, and the Wii U version still in limbo.
The development for this new IP has been given the proverbial yellow flag for the purpose of fine-tuning, a necessary layer of polish for any simulation racer, says Head of Studio Ian Bell at Slightly Mad Studios:
Moving the release date was not an easy decision to make, as we know our fans are eager to get their hands-on on Project Cars. But we know that these extra days will allow us to provide the best game experience that our fans deserve. We assure you the wait will be worth it when the game does arrive early April.
Given several test runs of Project CARS at Bandai Namco's press event last month, I'm not surprised about the delay. While the number of tracks and the detail of the physics and weather effects were indeed impressive, as relayed in my preview, the build I played seemed a bit early for a game that would have been due out in just a few months.
