A price drop may have been all that the 3DS needed for sales to start to pick up. In Japan, the 3DS had the 2nd best week of sales since it launched in Japan, selling 196,077. This figure is astronomically higher than the previous week sales, which were a disappointing 4,132 units. In defense of the 3DS, it was reported that many Japanese retailers were holding stock until the price drop took effect.
Here in the US, we'll have to wait until September to see the NPD results for August to see if the upward sales trend is similar to Japan. We expect it to be.
In related new, let's all stop to point and laugh at the PSPgo, which only managed to sell 20 units, up from the previous week of a whopping 7 units. Truthfully, I'm a bit shocked that there were 20 idiots in Japan who couldn't smell the disaster stench surrounding the PSPgo.
