Its existence has been hinted at for a while, but now Disney Infinity 3.0 is official. The game was unveiled as Game Informer's June cover story this morning, followed by an official press release from Disney Interactive Studios.
Star Wars characters make their big debut in Disney Infinity 3.0. The Twilight of the Republic pack-in set includes Anakin and Ahsoka, with Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Darth Maul available as separately sold figures. Developer Ninja Theory is helping with the creation of that particular story, which takes place during Episode II.
Studio Gobo's Star Wars playset, titled Rise Against the Empire, involves classic characters from the franchise such as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. Their adventures take them to Hoth and Tatooine among other places. Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Darth Vader must be purchased separately.
Plenty of other familiar faces appear in Disney Infinity 3.0 as well. Marvel will be represented by the likes of Iron Man, The Hulk, and Ultron just to name a few. Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Sam Flynn of Tron, and Mulan also show up in the game. It looks to be an extensive list of characters.
Like past entries in the series, Avalanche Software will oversee the development of the entire game. The company is collaborating with Ninja Theory to adjust the combat and Sumo Digital to perfect the driving mechanics. The Toy Box will also get an upgrade with a new hub world and farming system.
Disney Infinity 3.0 is scheduled to come out this fall for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, iOS, and Android. The starter pack costs $64.99, and many other figures will be sold separately.
