In awesome typical fashion, PAX Prime will be featuring several weekend concerts for the fans and highlighting six of the nerdiest musical artists around. Both concerts will be at the PAX Main Theatre at Benaroya Hall located at 3rd and Union in Seattle.
Saturday's concert from 8:30-11:30pm will feature 7bit hero, MC Frontalot, and Freezepop, while Sunday's concert will highlight Bit Brigade, Protomen, and The Returners. You will need to line up for the concerts quite early in order to gain entry.
Featured at PAX Australia with 40,000 people in attendance, 7bit hero is a self-described "indie bitpop band" who experiments with video projection and audience interaction, where crowd members control a character in the background using their smartphones. The nerdcore hip-hop artist MC Frontalot (Damian Hess) finished a free show in Portland to promote OSCON. Synthpop band Freezepop has endured since forming in 1999 and has several songs featured in Harmonix's titles including the remake of Amplitude HD.
Bit Brigade, composed of "roadwarrior mathrock bands," will bring a rock show that synchronizes its music with Noah McCarthy's speed runs of each level. Rock band The Protomen will be near the tail end of its long tour by the time PAX rolls around and will bring its Mega Man-inspired compilations to Sunday's concert. Last but not least, as a reference to Final Fantasy III (in the US), the five-man band the returners will be performing music from all video game eras and has an awesome cartoon medley that it performed at PAX South 2015.
