Kojima Sneaks Silent Hills P.T. Easter Egg Into MGSV: The Phantom Pain

Once upon a time Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima was working on two of the most anticipated projects at the same time: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Silent Hills. While the former would survive the trek to release, the latter would die a painful death mid-production. Nonetheless, there are still remnants of its existence.

A few hours into the MGSV experience you can encounter a hidden Silent Hills easter egg that draws from the P.T. demo that shook the world a year ago.

To find the easter egg, you will need to have progressed far enough through the story to unlock the Angola-Zaire region of Africa (second map). The easter egg comes in the form of a radio that is located in a tent just northwest of the Ngumba Industrial Zone in the southern most part of the map. If you interact with the radio, you'll listen to a radio broadcast very similar to the one played in P.T. regarding a domestic homicide.

Konami would kill off Silent Hills' development following high cost projections that it wasn't willing to fund. Although the world will never be ever to experience the full Silent Hills experience as it was originally envisioned by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro, the P.T. demo lives on as one of the greatest pieces of horror media in gaming.
