[UPDATE]: Deep Silver has confirmed via their Facebook page that this isn't happening – read more here.
[Original Story]: The Metro series has been one of the most critically acclaimed single-player shooting games of all time, with Metro: Last Light releasing in 2013 to universal praise by both critics and gamers. While an entire presidential term has passed since the last game released, you may not have to wait too much longer into the next one for Metro: Last Light's sequel.
According to a website for the book series on which the video game series is based, metro2035.com, the next Metro video game will come out in 2017. The website is mostly promotional material for Metro 2035, which is the next book in the series, but it also takes you through the entire chronology of the series and states that the next Metro game will pick up right where Metro 2035 leaves off.
The existence of a new game in the Metro series has been public knowledge since a press release back in 2014 announced that 4A Games, while also moving their headquarters to Maltra, was continuing "to work on un-announced titles within the Metro universe."
GameRevolution has reached out to 4A Games for confirmation of this report and will update this story when that response is received.
