Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Is November’s Most Downloaded PS4 Game

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has been on thin ice since its release, no matter what metric you use to measure it. Its critical reception has been middling, its sales are down and gamers have been increasingly upset by its DLC practices. But, today, Infinite Warfare finally received some good news.

According to the PlayStation Blog, Infinite Warfare was November's most-downloaded game on the PS4, even ahead of its better-received first-person-shooter competition, such as Battlefield 1, Overwatch and Titanfall 2.

This flies in the face of the narrative about Infinite Warfare's struggles, yes, but it's also a limited scope (it only covers the PS4, and only downloads from the PS Store – not counting physical sales). Still, though, it's easy to take this as a sign of life for the struggling shooter, whose parent series has a long way to go before it can be taken seriously by the gaming community.

As they say, though, good news for someone is often bad news for another. A notable omission on this list is one of the month's biggest releases – Dishonored 2. It's not even in the top 20, being beat out by games this year and games from years past, such as Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Mad Max. Of course, Dishonored 2 was hampered on PC by its performance issues, but many thought that Arkane Studios' new game would have solid impact on consoles.

Apparently, this wasn't the case. Even if you take into account the limited scope, you'd expect a game of Dishonored 2's prestige would be at least modestly represented on a list such as this.
