New Amiibo Discovered In Zelda: Breath of the Wild Datafiles, Including 3 Unannounced Figures

It's been a while now since a large dump of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's datafiles occurred, but such things aren't thoroughly examined and combed through overnight. Recently, attentive Reddit users uncovered information of particular note regarding amiibo compatibility, as well as amiibo figures themselves.

Currently, there are ten Legend of Zelda amiibo figures known to function with Breath of the Wild, but the list extracted from the datafiles contains more amiibo than that: 13 of them in total, listed as follows.

  • TableKing30th_Link_Takt
  • TableKing30th_Link_Twilight
  • TableKing30th_Link_Majora
  • TableKing_WolfLink
  • TableKing_Link_Bow
  • TableKing_Link_Horse
  • TableKing_Zelda_Doctor
  • TableKing_Guardian
  • TableKing_Bokoblin
  • TableKing30th_Link_Ocarina
  • TableKing30th_Zelda_Takt
  • TableKing30th_Link_Skyward
  • TableKing30th_Link_Dot

As you may surmise from looking, there appear to be additional 30th anniversary Link amiibo planned, including incarnations from Twilight Princess, Majora's Mask, and Skyward Sword. It's fitting considering the substantial 30-year milestone the series celebrates with Breath of the Wild's release, but datafiles are not likely the way Nintendo hoped people would find out. Notably, Skyward Sword marked the series 25th anniversary celebration. With mainline Zelda development cycles being as lengthy as they are, we can essentially expect an anniversary celebration with every major Zelda release. Which is, of course, fine by me.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is closer than ever before, scheduled to released on March 3rd alongside the Nintendo Switch hardware, and on the same day for Wii U. You can check out our coverage below, including previews, impressions, comparisons, and more.
