How Prey, Bethesda and Arkane Studios' upcoming alien space-station shooter, will perform on PC is the $60-dollar question on the lips of any slightly interested gamer. Dishonored 2's infamous launch (more of a sputter, really) on PC has made gamers wary of anything coming out of Arkane, especially since there won't be early review copies and the free demo wasn't available on PC.
But, from what we learned in today's Reddit AMA, it will look beautiful. Susan Kath, lead producer at Arkane Studios, confirmed that "[Prey] will have ultra widescreen support at 21:9 for launch."
Of course, the standard aspect ration of 1920×1080 monitors is 16:9, so this is obviously quite a bit bigger. Recently, only a few select PC games have supported the format, including Gears of War 4, Mafia 3, Battlefield 1 and DOOM, to name a few.
Kath also confirmed that they are working on implementing a Field-of-View slider for easier adjustment, but that it will be released post-launch. In the mean time, you can adjust the field of view via the config file, though this method is not officially supported.
I guess now is the time to upgrade, if you want to get the most out of the Prey experience.
