You can't count some people out. My Uncle Edward fell into a bad crowd and started doing drugs and stuff a while ago. Then, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, people start going on about Team Edward. My family was blown away! We hadn't heard from him in quite some time but everyone is talking about how they're on "Team Edward".
You can't count Nintendo out, either. Team Mario announced today that gamers everywhere have picked up 4 million units of Nintendo 3DS hardware. The 3D-enabled handheld crossed the goal set by top Nintendo brass last year over the holidays thanks to software like Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7. Nintendo VP of Sales and Marketing, Scott Moffitt said:
One of the strongest software lineups in our history helped Nintendo have a great holiday season and to close 2011 with a full head of steam.
Yo, Scott, I'm really happy for you and I'mma let you finish and all, but the 3DS had a SHITTY software lineup for the majority of 2011. You got Mario out in front of consumers and you dropped the price Apple-style, but let's get our facts straight.
In addition to touting numbers for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (more than 1 million units sold), Nintendo dropped word that a new Mario Party game and a new installment in the Pokemon franchise would be debuting on Nintendo 3DS soon. While neither title have definite dates, it's just nice to know what to look forward to.
We'll be sure to deliver any news on those games and the rest of the Nintendo 3DS lineup this year. It's sure to be a big focus for Nintendo at upcoming tradeshows like GDC and E3 2012.
