If you listened really closely early this morning, you would have heard a collective "D'OH!" from Sony. Their firmware update 1.65 for the Vita released hours ago for Europe, and then they discovered it had a fatal flaw. As in, the flaw was that the firmware update is completely broken.
The PlayStation Blog in Europe quickly posted an explanation of sorts for those wanting to learn more about the update and those who wanted to know how to fix their handhelds:
PS Vita system 1.65 has been taken down temporarily due to a technical fault. For any customers who may have already downloaded the firmware, they can continue as normal. We will notify you once the latest system software update is available to download again.
In other words, show's over, folks. Go about your business. Your Vita should still work as normal. Should. We think.
Oh Sony, I love you so much and yet you make me laugh with sadness way too often.
