Following reports of developers being underwhelmed by the Wii U's power, stating that it is less powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360, Nintendo has issued a statement to Digital Trends.
A Nintendo spokesperson explained that the company does not "focus on technology specs". Though they "understand that people like to dissect graphics and processing power, but the experience of playing will always be more important than raw numbers".
While that is indeed true, failing to exceed consoles that have been on the market for six and seven years (when the Wii U eventually releases) is a damn shame, and could be a real turn off for many. Especially when new, more powerful consoles are expected from Sony and Microsoft by holiday 2013.
I guess they forgot about they're old slogan: Now you're playing with power.
