Have you ever wished that you could play as both Fox McCloud and Samus Aran in the same game? Wait… scratch that, Nintendo already did that with Smash Brothers. Well, if the popular Nintendo brawler hasn't managed to satiate your desire for more crossovers between popular Nintendo characters, a recent rumor for a new Wii U title may be right up your alley.
According to Paul Gale Network, the same source that pre-maturely outed PlayStation All-Stars, Retro Studios may be working on a Star Fox – Metroid crossover title for the Wii U. PGN has been a relatively reliable source in the past, but it is worth noting that the source is warning gamers that the validity of this particular information is still in question, so bear that in mind.
The title, allegedly dubbed Star Fox – Metroid: Fusion Saga centers around the stories of both Fox and Samus after the two collide in space, sending the female bounty hunter plunging to the surface of an unknown planet. As one might expect, Fox and his team then set out to find Samus in segments of gameplay that include both air-combat and third-person action (think Star Fox Adventures). Meanwhile, Samus will be exploring the planet on her own in gameplay sections that will bear a striking resemblance to Metroid Prime. Eventually, the two meet up and fight Andross, who is somehow weirdly involved in a plot to exploit the power of Metroids.
The end.
Sounds a bit crazy, I know, but hey, Nintendo has done some crazy things in the past, and as insane as this is, it might acutally work. After all, who ever though at platforming plumber would be so successful?
