If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I am a huge video game soundtrack nerd. I listen to more video game soundtracks than I do any other musical genre. (And no, I don't care how nerdy that makes me sound, so hit me with your best shot.) As such, I nearly squealed with fangirl glee when I received the following press release:
Award-winning composers Jesper Kyd, Cris Velasco and Sascha Dikiciyan have created the genre-bending musical score for the highly anticipated Role-Playing-Shooter video game Borderlands™ 2 from Gearbox Software and 2K Games. Borderlands 2 is the sequel to the multi-million selling cooperative shooter-looter that combined intense first-person mayhem with role-playing gameplay.
Composers Velasco/Dikiciyan and Kyd were assigned the task of creating a colorful and dynamic music score for Borderlands 2's adrenaline-fuelled combat and diverse atmospheric environments. To accompany players' loot-hunting adventures in the cell-shaded, eclectic world of Pandora, the soundtrack fuses multiple music styles and cutting-edge sonic palettes which exude the multi-faceted personality and thrilling co-op action of Borderlands 2.
Jesper Kyd is the man behind the glorious musical scores for the Assassin's Creed series. Cris Velasco crafted the God of War scores, and he worked with Sascha Dikiciyan on composing the Mass Effect 2 DLC, Mass Effect 3, and the original Borderlands music
In other words, the soundtrack for Borderlands 2 is going to be gold, pure gold for the ears. If I could preorder this soundtrack on iTunes right now, I would.
