SWTOR Producer Leaves BioWare Austin

Star Wars: The Old Republic and BioWare Austin cannot seem to catch a break. Gamasutra reported this morning that Rich Vogel, the MMORPG's executive producer has left the studio. He was with BioWare Austin for seven years.

If that wasn't a low enough blow for both the game and the company, several BioWare Austin employees were laid off not long after Vogel's departure.

As amazing as the game looks, it continues to drop subscribers each month. BioWare has made the game free-to-play up to level 15, but it thus far has not prodded along any significant subscription increases.

To borrow a quote from Twitter, SWTOR is sadly becoming a cautionary tale in MMO development.
