Middle-earth: Shadow of War Gets a Story Trailer, Features New Ring

It wasn’t long ago that we learned the upcoming Middle-earth: Shadow of War would be delayed, jumping from its original launch window of August to a more comfortable target of October 10th of this year.

While minor as delays go, it’s still important to keep hype and interest high, and as such WB Games has put out a new, lengthy story trailer for the game. The trailer details the game’s scenario and how the infamous One Ring (or at least, a “new” version of it) plays a role – you can check out the trailer below.

The trailer arrives with a synopsis as well, which reads as follows.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has unveiled a NEW Story Trailer for Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™, showcasing Talion and Celebrimbor as they use the power of the New Ring to forge an army and confront the deadliest of enemies, including Sauron and his Nazgul, in a monumental battle for Middle-earth™. The video features a host of new allies, villains and creatures that The Bright Lord will encounter throughout this completely original narrative, which is brought to life through the expanded Nemesis System.

Of course, the notion of a New Ring surfacing is something any innocent bystander could identify as a clearly terrible idea, but as anyone who’s followed the series knows, its characters can’t exactly think straight when influenced by its overwhelming power.

Monolith Productions’ Middle-earth: Shadow of War is set to release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 10th, and we may very well see more of the game at E3 next week. Notably, a Switch version of the game is not currently planned, but given the system’s popularity you never know what might change.
