Of all the great characters that the Metal Gear Solid series has created over the years, Revolver Ocelot is one of the beloved. With stylish mannerisms and a level of skill with the revolver that makes dueling him a death sentence, Hideo Kojima learned early on that including him in every release of the franchise was a good idea for the sake of sales and fan service.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in particular has largely faded away from mainstream discussion since its release in 2015, but Konami has continued to support the title with updates. The latest update makes Revolver Ocelot playable for the first time.
Effective immediately, players can choose Revolver Ocelot as a playable hero character for FOB missions. The announcement post reads:
You can play as Ocelot to infiltrate FOBs. You cannot change the uniform or the head option, but Ocelot has a slightly increased camouflage value, and he reloads and draws his weapons faster. He can use one pistol in each hand with the TORNADO-6. He can also use ricochet bullets on marked enemies.
His dual revolvers make him an incredibly powerful character, capable of firing a barrage of bullets toward enemies. But what makes him stand out most is his innate skill that makes missed shots ricochet into enemies; there’s no getting away from him.
It’s a new gameplay perspective that has earned positive attention across the community, including PC, PS4, and Xbox One players. Konami hopes that players who haven’t played in a while will return.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain earned GameRevolution’s Game of the Year 2015 award for its precise gameplay and outstanding open-world design.
