ORIGINAL POST: The first day of BlizzCon 2017 is going on right now in Anaheim, California. In its sling of first announcements today, Blizzard has announced a new hero is coming to Overwatch. Her name is Moira and she is the latest support class hero for the popular FPS game.

Moira Overwatch Release Date is “Coming Soon”: New Hero Announced at Blizzcon

In accordance with BlizzCon, Blizzard updated its official site with more information on the upcoming Overwatch hero. Unfortunately, no specific release date was given just yet as she is still listed as “coming soon.” Moira is the sixth support class hero to join the rest of the large cast, bringing the support class’ numbers up to match those of the defense and tank classes.

At BlizzCon, it was also announced that Moira is a two-star difficulty hero, making her notably more challenging to play than the current support fan favorite Mercy. She is a biotic-based hero that uses her powers for either damage or healing in a moment’s notice during a match. A trailer was also presented, showing off her abilities and playstyle. Unfortunately, like with most hero announcements, there is no release date for Moira right now.

Moira Overwatch: New Hero Abilities

  • Biotic Grasp: Using her left hand, Moira expends biotic energy to heal allies in front of her. Her right hand fires a long-range beam weapon that saps enemies’ health, healing Moira and replenishing her biotic energy.
  • Biotic Orb: Moira launches a rebounding biotic sphere; she can choose between a regeneration effect that heals the allies it passes through, or a decay effect that deals damage to enemies.
  • Fade: Moira quickly teleports a short distance.
  • Coalescence: Moira channels a long-range beam that both heals allies and bypasses barriers to damage her enemies.

The official Overwatch website also lists her background story for those that are interested in it. She is a genius and controversial geneticist that is currently aligned with Talon; also, formerly affiliated with Blackwatch. Her controversial DNA work has led to her damaged reputation in the scientific community and her current alliance with the shadowy Talon organization for research funding.
