Sims 4 Breed Pets Cats and Dogs

Sims 4 Cats & Dogs Breed Pets: How to have Puppies and Kittens

Sims 4 Cats & Dogs lets you breed your pets so you can introduce some adorable puppies and kittens into your home. Your dogs and cats will age and eventually die in the new expansion (unless you turn aging off), so if you want their legacy to live on they need to have babies! You can also sell puppies and kittens to other Sims for profit and to spread the joy of pet ownership. Below we show you how to breed your cats and dogs in The Sims 4.

How to Breed Pets in The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs

If you thought breeding pets in The Sims 4 was going to be anything like real life, think again. There’s a process you have to follow. Otherwise, your dog or cat won’t be interested in reproducing at all. Before you can even think about breeding your pets, you need to get to know them. You’ll need to interact with your pet and have your Sim do positive actions like talking to the pet, hugging them, and playing with them. Once your relationship reaches the friend level, you can start the process of breeding.

Once you’re friends with your cat or dog, you can use the speech option “Encourage to Mate With….” under the friendly selections on the menu. Once you select that, you can choose an animal that is the opposite sex of your pet that is currently on the lot your Sim and pet are located on.

Once you’ve found a mate for your dog or cat and encouraged them, they’ll run over and handle their business. After that, you’ll need to wait 24 hours or so, just like if you’re waiting to see if a Sim is pregnant before you’ll know if the mating was successful or not. If it was, get ready for a litter of kittens or puppies! If it wasn’t, then you can always try again through the same steps.
