Nintendo Could Be Working on Donkey Kong Switch

Nintendo could be working on a brand new Donkey Kong game for the Nintendo Switch, if a new rumor is to be believed.

There hasn’t been a new mainline Donkey Kong game since 2014’s Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, with Nintendo having remained quiet about the series’ status. However, on the ResetEra forum, an individual who allegedly has connections to Donkey Kong composer David Wise claims that the musician is working with Nintendo, suggesting that a new DK game is on its way for the Switch.

In a forum discussing whether or not Wise would return for a new Donkey Kong Country game, ResetEra user EvilBoris wrote: “I spoke to David a few months ago and he said he was in Texas working for Nintendo. So unless Retro are doing a new IP with David Wise music, he’s doing DK.”

Of course, this isn’t confirmation that Retro is working on a new Donkey Kong Country, or that David Wise is attached to the project. We don’t know for certain if the forum user has a connection to Wise, though ResetEra’s moderators are known for not investigating into unsubstantiated claims before they’re posted on the forum. One of its administrators, Nibel, also shared the comment on Twitter, adding further credibility to the claim.

Nintendo hasn’t formally announced that a new Donkey Kong game is in development, so we’ll have to wait and see whether or not this claim is true.
