Players can choose between houses Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. They will be able to interact with other fellow wizards and witches in the game, building friendships and rivalries. Players will attend classes to master magical spells and potion brewing, as well as embarking on mysterious quests just like Harry Potter and his friends. The choices made by players during encounters will have an impact on the game’s overall narrative.

In the teaser, we can also see what looks to be fully-controllable wand duels between characters. Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery will take place after Harry’s birth but several years before he was even invited to the school. Since the events of the game take place before the those in the books or the movies, it is a prequel of sorts. The story in the game involves a mystery surrounding the Cursed Vaults and the disappearance of the protagonist’s brother.

For Android users, Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery is now open for pre-registration on Google Play, which you can check out here. Users who pre-register will be alerted when the game is finally available to download. So far no specific release date has been listed, but the game is slated to be released sometime in 2018.
