Epic Games has announced that it will remove the Guided Missile weapon from Fortnite Battle Royale. The explosive weapon was just recently added to the game last month but it has already received a lot of negative feedback from Fortnite players.
An Epic Games representative revealed the news via a Reddit post, where the person wrote: “We’ve gotten a lot of feedback around the Guided Missile, in particular, concerns over fairness and strength of the weapon. We share your concerns, so we’ve put the Guided Missile into the vault while we figure out the next steps for its future.”
The Guided Missile weapon has been quite popular amidst all the controversy. It is a slower version of the RPG, but it allows Fortnite Battle Royale players to ride the rocket by firing it themselves or from teammates firing it without exploding. This has led to many hilarious situations. However, players started complaining about the weapon when it became overused due to it being overpowered.
The Reddit post also clarifies a few other issues as well. The developer “unintentionally introduced a bug around peeking over structures and edges.” The change will be rolled back soon with the 3.5.2 update soon. Additionally, a hotfix to revert several weapon’s equip times will be arriving so that “snipers and crossbows do not benefit as much from quick switching.”
The animations for equipping weapons will also receive further improvements in a future update. This is due to it being “possible to fire sooner than the gun appears ready,” which makes the weapon feel more sluggish than they actually are. The shotgun, revolver, hand cannon, and rocket launcher will retain the delay from switching weapons.
