For the past month or so, God of War has proven to be an unstoppable force in the games industry. Albeit being a PS4 exclusive, it has secured its number one spot for an incredible fourth consecutive week. The Nintendo Labo was released on the same week as Kratos’ latest adventure but it has already vanished without a trace on the top twenty UK games sales chart.
According to GamesIndustry.biz, God of War has surpassed The Last of Us Remastered to become the PS4 exclusive with the longest consecutive number one run in the UK sales charts. However, it still has about two more weeks to maintain its number one position if it hopes to beat the record held by the original The Last of Us on the PS3. That game was number one for six consecutive weeks back when it was initially released in 2013.
God of War At Number One: How Long Will It Stay On Top?
There’s tough competition coming for God of War in the weeks ahead. Major upcoming releases in the next few weeks include Hyrule Warriors on the Nintendo Switch, Dark Souls Remastered, and Detroit Become Human. It remains to be seen if the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive ever will be able to maintain its current run.
God of War At Number One: Where is Nintendo Labo?
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze managed to hold onto second place for two weeks in a row. That’s impressive for the re-release of a title on the Wii U. Speaking of Nintendo, the two Nintendo Labo products has dropped even further into the abyss. The Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 01: Variety Kit had to settle for number 27 while the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 02: Robot Kit has disappeared completely from the top 40 UK sales chart.
Interestingly, Destiny 2 slides back into the top ten UK sales chart at number 10, with a 36 percent increase in sales. This is probably due to its second expansion, Warmind, having been released last week. Another of 2018’s biggest releases, Far Cry 5 secured a respectable third place after two months since its release.
