PS3 System Update Will Allow PSN Users To Change Password

The great PSN outage of 2011 continues. You know, when the news broke that the PS3 had been hacked, you knew this kind of shit was coming down the pipeline.

Still, a question and answer session between Patrick Seybold and… the millions of PSN user voices in his head is here to reassure everyone that the PSN will come with new security features once the service is back online.

New security features like the ability to change your PSN password:

Q: When or how can I change my PlayStation Network password?

A: We are working on a new system software update that will require all users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. We will provide more details about the new update shortly.

I'm so lazy, I doubt I'll take regular advantage of this feature but it is one of those things that should be offered on a console's front end. Microsoft's Xbox.com allows a little bit more control over your account, but it would be nice to see account information at your finger tips. That means I want to delete some credit card information too, dammit! Maybe Sony could benefit from an online home for PSN users. Write me a check and I'll tell you about my ideas for selling shit to people there too, Sony.

D'oh!
