The Fortnite 4.4 update is now rolling out across all platforms, bringing a new weapon, new trap functionality, and more to the game. While E3 excitement has taken over, it’s nice to know that Epic Games is still pushing out its regular updates for those players who are fully focused on progressing in Fortnite. Both Battle Royale and Save the World players are getting a bit of love in the Fortnite 4.4 update, as you’ll gather from the patch notes highlighted below.
Fortnite 4.4 Update Patch Notes
The main addition to Battle Royale is the new Thermal Scope Assault Rifle. This new Thermal AR has been a cause for concern in the community, as it does sound pretty powerful. The Thermal AR dishes out 36-37 base damage, and is available in both Epic and Legendary variants. Not only can it see player heat signatures, it can also highlight chests, supply drops, and more. It uses medium ammo and can be found from floor loot, chests, and supply drops.
Following the big trap damage buff, these pesky tools are now going to be even more lethal, as players are able to put certain traps on ramps in both Battle Royale and Save the World.
Two new limited time modes have been made available: Sniper Shootout V3 and 50v50 V3. Sniper Shootout arms players with snipers and scoped assault rifles, while 50v50 splits the 100-player population into two teams of 50. As you’d imagine, the “V3” tag means both modes have been improved over their previous versions. Expect these limited time modes to have been tweaked to be even more fun and less frustrating.
For Save the World players, a new ninja hero has joined the fight. You can join up with this hero in part 3 of the Blockbuster questline.
