Xbox Live Subject of Suspected Phishing Attempts

Yup, it's true. Somehow the PlayStation Network remains down. What are we on… the seventh day? Crazy… I guess I'll just head on to Xbox Live to play… I don't know. Modern Warfare 2.

That was fun! Hey look! A message… I wonder what it says….

Hey, good playing MW2 with you! I am the former prince of Nigeria and I really like Microsoft Points. I have 10,000,000 Microsoft Points in an account but I need 1600 to access the account. If you forward me your credit card numbers, back account numbers, social security numbers, address, mother's maiden name, first pet's name, home town, city where you were born, shoe size, boxers or briefs, blood type, and how many kidneys you have left I should be able to buy a Microsoft Points card and then I'll split the 10,000,000 Microsoft Points with you. 50-50!… 70-30.

I guess that must be why Xbox Live issued a service alert for phishing attempts over Xbox Live. Here's the word straight from Microsoft:

We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.

Such a calm response has to mean it's time to abandon ship. Anyone wanna exchange Wii Friend-Codes?
