Titan Quest was released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One earlier this year, the classic titles first appearance on home consoles. Today, the game received a huge update which, along with fixes for some of the game’s issues, adds split screen couch co-op for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
The new mode will now allow fans to play the game together on a single television, apart from the 6-player online co-op multiplayer. The update announcement hasn’t made clear how many players will be able to join a couch co-op session or if those who play using the couch co-op mode will be able to join online multiplayer sessions to form a group of up to six people.
Couch co-op sounds like an appropriate addition to the game’s console version. Other, similar titles have also featured a split-screen co-op mode, such as Diablo 3, which helped the games become more accessible and enjoyable on console.
The update will also include fixes to performance and stability in multiplayer mode, adjustments to the game’s UI, and numerous bug fixes to the game’s single and multiplayer modes. The update also comes with fixes to the game’s streaming and preloading systems that would unintentionally cause items to spawn.
Aside from bringing remastered graphics to Titan Quest’s console release, developers THQ Nordic have also made Titan Quest for consoles a unique experience from the original version on Windows with new controls and a new UI specially designed for consoles and gamepads.
Titan Quest is currently available on the PS4, Xbox One, Android, and iOS. A Collector’s Edition for the game’s PS4, Xbox One, and PC version has also been made available. The game is also scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch on July 31, 2018, and the new couch co-op mode will be included with the release.
