CoD 2019 Campaign

CoD 2019 Campaign Is Happening, Suggests Infinity Ward Job Listing

If you hate the direction taken by the campaign-less Black Ops 4, you’ll be happy to learn that it seems likely that a CoD 2019 campaign is in the works. With the backlash caused by Black Ops 4‘s no single-player approach, I suppose it’s good that Call of Duty 2019 looks like it will have a story mode. A job listing posted by developer Infinity Ward teases the campaign, with an open gap for a “narrative scripter,” who will work on “a new, exciting, unannounced title for multiplayer next-gen platforms.”

Potential CoD 2019 Campaign Job Listing

As it’s Infinity Ward, we pretty much know that the job listing is for an upcoming Call of Duty game. The job details go into the required qualifications, which further points towards the project being CoD 2019.

“Qualifications:

  • A cinematic ear for dialogue pacing.
  • A strong desire to bring life to game characters through naturalistic and cinematic implementation of vocal performance.
  • A strong interest and passion for First Person Shooter (FPS) games
  • The ability to dissect and discuss level design in recent games.
  • A broad understanding of both multiplayer and single player game design.
  • Familiarity with game editor tools such as Radiant, Unreal, Unity or Crytek Editors a plus.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Lua, or similar scripting language.
  • Self-motivated with excellent problem solving skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Prior internship or game development experience a plus.”

In addition to the list of qualifications, Infinity Ward has also explained that in this “hands-on role,” the narrative scripter will “collaborate with scripters, sound designers, writers, and directors to implement voice-over performances in-game across a wide variety of player experiences — from combat to set-pieces.”

I mean, that all sounds pretty obvious to me. These qualifications are exactly what would be needed for anyone making a CoD 2019 campaign. It’s looking very likely that Infinity Ward is going in a different direction, and I’m sure many Call of Duty fans are happy to hear it. Of course, Call of Duty 2019 is over a year away, so it’s going to be a long wait before we know if there is indeed a single-player campaign, and an even longer wait before we get to play it! (Note: If you haven’t played through the Advanced Warfare campaign, I really recommend it!)
