BioWare Mythic Removes BioWare From Its Name

BioWare has been a mess lately, and that's enough for Warhammer Online and Dark Age of Camelot developer, BioWare Mythic, to say farewell to its influence.

After numerous name changes and over three years of being content with the BioWare addition, BioWare Mythic has changed its name back to Mythic Entertainment, a title it inherited during a restructuring plan in 2009. No reason was given for the change of heart, but it isn't unreasonable to think that it's some fallout from BioWare's decline in popularity with gamers.

Star Wars: The Old Republic's failure and Mass Effect 3's controversial consumer reception have put BioWare in a precarious situation. It either needs to prove that it still has what it takes to be consumer-loved developer that it was for nearly a decade, or fall into a Britney Spears style downward spiral. The team is currently working on Dragon Age III: Inquisition, and after the lukewarm reception of Dragon Age II, its release may very well be a pivotal point for the company.
