The big Destiny 2 Forsaken expansion is less than a month away and Bungie has decided to give us a better look at it. The new trailer shows us the Dreaming City, which shares the name of the raid that takes place on it. Bungie claims that it is the “largest endgame experience ever” with new loot, puzzles, and more. It will be available for players once they complete the Forsaken campaign that launches on September 4.
The trailer shows glimpses of the Dreaming City and its ethereal qualities. Floating space rocks, big cathedrals, and a cool blueish color palette feel right at home in Destiny 2. Like Castlevania Symphony of the Night, the trailer hints at an inverted level and calls it a “nightmare.” We will have to wait to see what exactly this tease entails.
While not in the trailer, Forsaken also includes the Tangled Shore, which is located near the Dreaming City and supposed be tonally “darker” than the other spots in the game. Forsaken also includes a brand new raid in the core of the Dreaming City and Gambit (a new competitive PvP mode) as well as more armor, weapons, supers, missions, activities, and gear. People who pre-order Forsaken will also get Cayde’s Exotic Stash, which contains an emote, ship, shader, and ornament.
This Destiny 2 Forsaken trailer is more focused on story than the livestream Bungie held yesterday. In updates coming before and during Forsaken‘s launch, the game will let players have more control over combat. Perks and mods let Guardians craft a gun that suits their style and weapons are no longer bound to specific slots, but are limited by ammo instead. Supers, grenades, perks, and more all had to be rebalanced to foster these changes.
For those who want more Destiny 2 right now, the game is currently holding its Solstice of Heroes event, which is acting as sort of a pre-anniversary celebration.
