Xenoblade Chronicles 2 1.52 Update Patch Notes: What’s Changed in the New Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Update?

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 1.52 just arrived in a surprise fashion, and it brings a new familiar face back into the franchise. Elma makes the jump from Wii U spin-off title Xenoblade Chronicles X as a new blade, while the identity of the last silhouette of the past has been revealed as Corvin. There’s quite a bit to digest in this new release, so prepare to update your game and get stuck in long before the release of Torna: the Golden Country.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 1.52 Update Patch Notes: What’s Changed in the New Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Update?

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 updates are known to add plenty of new and exciting details to an already massive game – and the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 2 1.52 update is certainly no exception to the rule. Update the game (we’ll show you how further down) and get stuck in. You’ll need the Expansion Pass to access this new content, however, to be sure to pick up that separate purchase if you’re looking to unlock a plethora of new game content in one go.

The main changes you’ll find in the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 1.52 update is the two new blades – Elma and Corvin. You’ll be able to unlock and add them both to your party with this update, but they’re not the only new additions. Flawless Noponstones have been added as items. Once added from the Expansion Pass screen, you’ll be able to earn these from the challenges in the Land of Challenge and exchange them for outfits (like swimsuits) for your favorite characters.

You can view the majority of the patch notes down below, with the remaining few details being found on the Nintendo site;

  • Added functionality to receive Corvin, the third and final round of rare blades from the Expansion Pass.
    • A core crystal is available that will guarantee bonding with Corvin. Corvin possesses the following characteristics:
      • Weapon type: Uchigatana
      • Element: Light
      • Role: Defense
      • Drivers bonded with Corvin become able to use an art with the reaction “Smash.”
  • Added functionality to the Expansion Pass to receive new challenges for the “Challenge Battle: Nopondemonium” called “Otherworldly Fighter” and “Poisoned Paradise.”
    • “Otherworldly Fighter” features a battle against Elma, from the game Xenoblade Chronicles X. Clearing this challenge will allow Elma to join your party as a blade.
    • Pressing the R and Minus buttons at the same time when all three bars of Elma’s party gauge are full will consume all three bars and engage her Overdrive ability.
    • While Overdrive is active, a counter is applied to all attack arts and specials that hit. As the counter goes up, the effect of the following three bonuses increases: damage boost, an Arts recharge boost from auto-attacks, and a decrease in enemy resistance to reactions and combos.
    • Add this challenge by selecting the following options from the main menu: Expansion Pass, Gift from Zuo 3, Nopon Summons, Pt. 2. The challenge is available from Chapter 6 onward.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 1.52 Update Patch Notes: Corvin Rare Blade Stats

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 1.52

Being a Rare blade, Corvin isn’t going to be as powerful as many of the legendary blades you’ll add to your team throughout Xenoblade Chronicles 2. But that doesn’t mean he’s useless. Strategists may find a place for him on their team as Corvin instantly adds the “Smash” reaction to the Driver he’s bonded to.

Of course, this all depends on whether his element, role, and weapon type match up to what you need on your team. Corvin is an Uchigatana user of the rare Light element. If you’re in need of a new tank, you’re in luck! Corvin fits the Tank role perfectly.

As mentioned before, bonding Corvin with any driver will gain them access to an Art with the Smash effect; the final part of any good combo, and a great way to farm core crystals from high-level mobs.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 1.52 Update Patch Notes: How to Update Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Interested in the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 1.52 update but don’t know where to start? You’ll need to update your game first of all. If the game is already running on your Nintendo Switch, be sure to save your progress before you start this quick and easy process.

Ensure your Nintendo Switch is connected to an internet connection (preferably a non-metered one) and that you have your Xenoblade Chronicles 2 cartridge inserted if you bought the game physically. Once ready, open the game through the Nintendo Switch HOME menu and you should be prompted to download and install the update. Everything should happen automatically here, but be prepared for a bigger download if your game wasn’t already up to date.

Once that’s all done, you can verify that you’re running the 1.52 update by checking out the version number on the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 title screen.
