The Blizzard Entertainment careers website has been updated to include various new roles for many as-of-yet unannounced games. From the job listings, it can be gleaned that not only is a new Diablo title in the works but that a brand new project by the California based developers is beginning production.
The unannounced Diablo title is currently seeking various artists, engineers, and a creative director. Unfortunately, all that these job postings reveal is that Blizzard Entertainment is indeed working on a new Diablo title. No details on what the game’s release date or story will be are included. Every one of these listings confirms this by beginning with “The minions of Hell are growing stronger…We’re working on a new, unannounced Diablo project.”
The other unannounced project is seeking to find core members for its team. Blizzard is currently looking for a lead/senior lead level designer, a senior software engineer (who has worked with server-side engineering), and an art director to name a few. What is of interest is the details of these three listings. The first of the listings above asks for “passion for action games on console or PC”, suggesting a release across many platforms. The second asks for a “passion for co-op games, RPGs and board games”, which suggests the type of game this new project will be. Finally, the art director posting asks for someone with a “real passion for action games.” These are all of course not exact confirmations of projects, however, they are of note to see where Blizzard is going in future.
Blizzard Entertainment was established in 1991, with its first game RPM Racing being released on the SNES that year. They have gone on to produce various popular franchises such as Warcraft, Diablo, Starcraft, and Overwatch to name a few. The company is part of the Activision Blizzard holding company as of 2009 when the former of the two companies merged with Vivendi Games.
