Fallout 76 Map Name: What It Is Called and Where It Takes Place

The Fallout 76 map name has been revealed. Historically, the names of the maps throughout the Fallout series have always been important to the overall lore. From the Commonwealth, to the Capital Wasteland, Vault Dwellers, Sole Survivors, and Lone Wanderers have roamed the most dangerous parts of the post-apocalyptic Wasteland of North America. Now, Fallout 76‘s map name has been revealed: Appalachia.

Fallout 76 Map Name: What Is the Fallout 76 Map Called?

The name Appalachia was revealed in a tweet from the official Fallout Twitter page. The tweet reads as follows:

How does Appalachia differ from the Commonwealth or Capital Wasteland? It starts with a Guitar Sword.

That’s an interesting place to start, for sure, but the guitar sword comes in second place in the interest race, as the confirmation of the map’s name is a huge deal. Appalachia undoubtedly refers to the mountain range that runs through the game’s already confirmed location—West Virginia.

Much like Fallout 4‘s Freedom Trail, Fallout 76 will likely capitalize on West Virginia’s real-life Appalachian Trail. What they intend to do with this Trail is anyone’s guess, but multiplayer Fallout in the Appalachian mountain range sounds like the makings of a worthy addition to the Fallout series. It will be multiplayer, too, because it has been confirmed that there is no Fallout 76 single-player mode.

Fallout 76 is set to release on PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One on November 14, 2018. However, the beta is set to be released some time in October. Information on how to get into the Fallout 76 beta has already been revealed, so if you’re excited to join in on the action, you should have no problem joining the party early,

Until then, you can spend your time trying to figure out what you’re going to use that guitar sword for. That’s Wasteland innovation at its finest.
