Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – Which Horse Should I Choose?

Soon after starting Assassin’s Creed Odyssey you’ll need to choose a horse. There are three you’re introduced to, and there’s not much info given on what the differences are between each one. Below we’ll give you the info you need to figure out which horse you should choose in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Which Horse Should I Choose in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Your horse is going to be your constant companion throughout the game. You’ll use it to speed up travel and automatically take your character to waypoints you designate. However, you only get one chance to choose which of the three horses shown to you at the beginning of the game you want. After that, you’re stuck with your pick forever.

Your friend Markos will take you to his stables shortly after the beginning of the game and show you three horses. The only info you get on them is the following:

  • Assassin's Creed Odyssey Skyros Horse

Horse on the left: The Skyros can cling to mountain passes like a goat.
  • Assassin's Creed Odyssey Thessalonia Horse

Horse in the middle: From Thessalonia and bred for courage.
  • Assassin's Creed Odyssey Makedonian Horse

Horse on the right: The Makedonian. Bred for battle. A warrior’s horse.

From the text, you would guess that you need to pick the one that suits your playstyle best. Unfortunately, you don’t get any concrete stats or information on which one would be the best for you.

When it comes to picking your horse in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, there’s really no wrong choice. There’s no tangible benefit to using one horse over another. Just select the one you think looks best. In fact, if you end up regretting your choice, there are skins available for purchase from vendors throughout the game that will let you change the look of your horse. Odds are you’ll eventually find one of these you like better than the starting look anyway.
