Assassin's Creed Odyssey Multiplayer Co-Op Split-Screen

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – Is There Split-Screen Multiplayer and Co-Op?

Whether Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has split-screen multiplayer or not is likely a question on many fans’ minds. After all, quite a few of the previous entries in the franchise featured both co-op and PvP multiplayer. We’ll give you all the details on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey multiplayer below.

Does Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Have Multiplayer or Split-Screen Co-Op?

Given that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has two protagonists to choose from, you’d think that it’d be a great set up for multiplayer. Unfortunately, the last few games haven’t had much of an emphasis on multiplayer, and it seems this tradition continues with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

When asked earlier this year, game director Scott Phillips stated that he didn’t feel that splitting the focus of the team in two directions was the best call for the game. Additionally, Greece, the land you explore in Odyssey, is absolutely enormous.

Given that the game is very long, I can see how it would be difficult to adapt the environments in a way that would make multiplayer viable. Even drop-in and drop-out co-op would add an enormous workload to the game’s production as you then have to figure out a way to dynamically balance everything so that gameplay remains satisfying if you play it with solo or two-players.

The last Assassin’s Creed game to have a proper multiplayer mode was Black Flag. In that game, you could play several game types that typically involved asymmetrical multiplayer where a target had to hide while other players attempted to assassinate them. While that game was excellent, I think it’s a fair tradeoff to get a much bigger world to explore.

That’s all there is to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey multiplayer. For more great guides make sure to check out our game hub.
