The dreams of fans all over the world for a Fallout 76 Fat Man rocket launcher are about to be realized. First introduced in Fallout 3, the Fat Man quickly established itself as a staple in the Fallout series. Now, it has been confirmed that Fallout 76 players can blow each other up with everybody’s favorite big gun, as the Fat Man is due to make its highly-anticipated return.
Comicbook reported that Bethesda had confirmed the Fat Man would be making an appearance in Fallout 76, but that its location would be left for players to discover by themselves when the beta launches in late October—October 23 for Xbox One players, and October 30 for PC and PS4 players.
The Fat Man has made an appearance in every iteration of Fallout since its introduction in Fallout 3. Fans all over the world were likely eager to know whether or not it would make its way into the upcoming multiplayer-centric Fallout 76, and now said fans can rest easy. What was once used to fend off Super Mutant Behemoths will now be used in order to wage nuclear war across Appalachia—Fallout 76‘s brand new map.
For those who don’t know what the Fat Man is, the Fallout wiki has the following to say:
The M42 Fat Man is an effective mortar/artillery weapon, allowing a person to bombard a large area with good precision and deadly force. It uses a mini-nuke for ammunition which when fired, results in a small nuclear blast.
Except, fans of Fallout all know that the nuclear blast is anything but “small.”
