The Munchables Review

Starving for more.

Note from GR’s Big Kahuna, Duke Ferris: For years we’ve been plagued with the problem of what to do with the kids games we get sent. There is no way on earth I can properly evaluate Barbie’s Horse Adventures. So in the past, we’ve done the obvious – sell them back to GameStop for heroin money.

However, a better answer has been staring us in the face: child labor. How do you review a game meant for a 12-year old girl? Give it to a 12-year old girl. GR is proud to present Monsoon’s review of The Munchables in her own words.

[image1]So you live on the planet Star Ving – haha get it? And you are either a pink little rounded animal thingamajig or a blue and orange rounded thingamajig. And an all knowing onion is like your leader and he guides you around the different places. Anyways veggie aliens invade your planet. But to retaliate you run around to eat the veggies and its a lot like katamari… the more you engulf the bigger you are and in return you are less limited as to what you can eat. And even if something is too big to eat you can attack it so it is smaller.

Depending on the stage you are at you start at a different size and lets just say you’re a level 10 and the giant carrot you want to eat is a level 50 it may take more attacks to finally get it bite size of maybe 5 level 10 carrots which is good but now you have more little carrots attacking you.

Its really hard to die in this game……. i had to fall off the side of a floating island and walk through fire!!! And then not recover the way the game tells u to. If u decide to actually recover its easy as pie just shake the wiimote till you get out of the danger zone and you can do that as much as you want!

[image2]There are boss stages and i personally had a blast beating up a giant broccoli and you have to find its weak point but the all telling onion will probably tell you where it is.

The controls are a cinch! To eat you continuously squish the A button or to power eat you can hold down the A button but that’s hardly necessary. To attack bigger veggies you press the B trigger button while in the direction of your foe. But if you want to play with a friend you are going to want a different game because there’s no 2 player mode! 🙁

The look is whimsical and colorfully cute! I cant say as much for the music though…… it doesn’t do the game any justice it drifts between absolutely horrible and ditsy cute. Id love to say this was a GREAT GAME!! but i just cant i like it but after awhile its to repetitive to really appreciate.

  • Game comes with a free sticker!
  • Easy controls
  • No two-player
  • Gets boring pretty fast
