Steep PVP mode

Steep PvP Multiplayer Mode Is Finally Being Added

Ubisoft has announced that a Steep PVP mode will be coming soon. The extreme snow sports game has not had any kind of direct competitive multiplayer before this recent update. Previously, players only competed against each other’s course times and could not directly compete with strangers.

With its new update, a Steep PVP mode with matchmaking has been added to the game, allowing friends and foes alike to carve it up on the powder. It will follow the format of traditional PVP modes where players join a lobby and then begin competition. This mode will be accessible via Mountain View. The upper limit of these PVP lobbies will be four players.  Rather than one single race, the title will put players in a playlist of various different challenges. These playlists will include themes “such as race, freestyle, rocket wingsuit, and wingsuit” according to Ubisoft. During PVP, however, synchronous gameplay will still be active. This means collisions with other players in the world and your opponents will still be possible.

An update including the Steep PVP mode will be coming to PC on October 29. PS4 and Xbox One players will need to wait for this mode, as Ubisoft has only stated that it will be “coming soon” for those platforms. The mode will be free, however, it will be in a beta state when it launches.

Steep originally launched on December 2, 2016, for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Our own review of the game gave it a score of 4 out of 5. We enjoyed its presentation and controls, however, its lack of variety and difficult tricks dampened our time with it. Early last year, it was announced that the game was to come to the Nintendo Switch. It was meant to launch during the console’s launch window. However, this version of Steep was canceled earlier this year.
