Eevee Tamagotchi

Eevee Tamagotchi Heading to Japan in January

Raising Tamagotchi pets have always been a great way to love and attend to a pet without all of the other annoying things that comes with raising a living, breathing animal. Now you’ll get a chance to virtually raise one of Pokemon’s cutest and most endearing Pokemon, because the Tamagotchi is back! An Eevee Tamagotchi is set to hit shelves in Japan next month that will let you raise the Pokemon that arguably may be starting to rival Pikachu in terms of popularity.

Serebii has confirmed that a new Pokemon collaboration with Tamagotchi will allow you to raise Eevee, recent star of Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee. You’ll be able to take care of Eevee by feeding and raising it properly, with the goal of evolving it into one of its eight evolutions. The Eevee you raise will come in a variety of forms, including a Ditto themed version or even an Eevee sporting a Team Rocket outfit.

There will be two different types of Tamagotchi upon release. One will be the standard version, encased in a light brown shell much like Eevee’s natural color. There is also the “Colorful Friends” version that comes in a pink shell. This version has pictures of Eevee’s many evolutions on the case.

This isn’t the first time Pokemon has entered the virtual pet field. The Pocket Pikachu let you raise Pokemon’s top draw way back in 1998. The Pokemon Breeder Mini also carried the same theme a few years later in 2002. That let you take care of Hoenn starter Pokemon Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip.

Both versions of the Eevee Tamagotchi Nano will hit shelves in Japan on January 26th for 2,300 yen, or around $20. No word on a Western release yet. But, hey: raising cute animals without cleaning up any kind of messes is something that the whole world can probably get behind.
