Skype Teases Possibility Of Xbox Integration

Microsoft will most likely be revealing its new console within the next month or two, and speculation regarding what features will come packed into the box is unsurprisingly at an all-time high. There's reason to believe Skype will be one of the Big M's headliners.

The company purchased Skype back in 2011 for a whopping $8.5 billion, so it would stand to reason that this internet-based communication service will probably play a large role in the future of Microsoft's gaming platform. Speaking to TechRadar, Skype mobile marketing head Derek Snyder discussed the plausibility of such integration.

"If it's an Xbox we're trying to connect to – it's probably not that hard to believe we're looking at that – what does that mean for gaming? How does Skype enhance the gaming proposition? Of course Xbox has things with voice and messaging chat at the moment, but does video make sense for that case?" Snyder said.

It looks like we'll just have to wait for the impending hardware reveal to find out.
