Mortal Kombat 11 Kabal character revealed on stream

Sub-zero temperatures can only delay the next Mortal Kombat 11 character reveal for so long. The Mortal Kombat 11 Kabal reveal livestream happened earlier today, unveiling the fan favorite that debuted in Mortal Kombat 3.

NetherRealm teased Kabal since the reveal event. When advertising for the first Kombat Kast, the studio’s in-house streams, a mysterious character dashed across the graphic on the stage. Slowing the footage down showed that the blur looked a lot like Kabal. It makes sense too since the dash is one of his signature moves.

The dash was part of his moveset once again, as were a few new moves. The developers on the stream also said the team was focused on giving Kabal some more attacks that utilized his iconic hook swords. He doesn’t have his instant air gas blasts anymore and his oppressive pressure has been nerfed a bit but players can still spec their Kabal in a way where they can have a similar setup to Mortal Kombat 9‘s Kabal. However, these moves do not look nearly as overpowered.

Since the story messes with time travel, we will also be able to play as an unburned Kabal for the first time ever. This will reflected in some of his skins and players can still choose to have his more signature look as well.

Kabal was supposed to be shown off on January 30. However, extremely frigid temperatures part of the polar vortex pushed the stream back. NetherRealm is based in Chicago where temperatures fell well below freezing. It was so cold that some train tracks had to be lit on fire in order to warm up. There are already enough sub-zero fatalities in Mortal Kombat 11 and we do not need them happening in real life to the team.

This isn’t the only character to be shown off since the reveal event in January. Kano, one of the original Mortal Kombat characters, was unveiled last week at a Brazilian event for the game. However, NetherRealm did not actually show any in-game footage of the Australian Black Dragon member as the studio only posted a picture of his one of his default outfits and a skin that looked like a pirate. While it does look like to pirate, it is a skin that references the kangaceiro, which are more in line with cowboys. The skin will be exclusive to Brazil..

NetherRealm will likely hold more streams in the future to reveal the roster. As of now, the confirmed roster is only Baraka, Skarlet, Sonya Blade, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Shao Khan, Kano, and newcomer Geras.
