Apple set to release new MacBook Pro and 6K display

Apple set to release 16-inch MacBook Pro and a 31-inch 6K monitor

Unconfirmed reports have emerged that Apple is planning to release a new, bigger MacBook Pro and an upgraded, external monitor in 2019. The report indicates that a 16-inch MacBook Pro is planned for later this year along with a high-end 6K monitor and upgrades to the iPhone and AirPods also slated for a 2019 release.

News of the potential releases comes from trusted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who has written at length about Apple’s 2019 line up in a report obtained by 9to5mac. Kuo’s report details several upcoming changes and additions to Apple’s product line up with the biggest news being that of a new MacBook Pro variant with a larger screen.

The new MacBook Pro will reportedly feature a screen size of something between 16-16.5 inches, just shy of the popular 17-inch variant which left the market in 2012. The new Pro will feature a new design and the lineup may also feature a 13-inch design which will support 32GB of RAM. The report does not confirm whether or not Apple will make any changes to the keyboard design, however, which left many users of the 2016 re-design frustrated by unreliability.

As well as the new Pro, Kuo reports that Apple is planning an impressive, high-end display to go along with the new line of releases. The display is rumored to be up to 31-inches in size with an output of 6K resolution. The display will apparently use backlit LED technology to give users an unmatched level of picture quality.

Kuo’s report also details several upgrades for the new iPhone and AirPods 2. It is understood that Apple will once again release three iPhone models in the same screen size as the 2018 models but the 2019 phones will feature new camera technology and wireless charging. The phones are also said to have improved face recognition software, frosted glass casing, and larger batteries.

Meanwhile, the AirPods 2 will support upgraded Bluetooth connectivity and also feature wireless charging. In terms of device connectivity, the upgraded bilateral wireless technology in the new phones may allow users to wirelessly charge other devices with their phone, AirPods 2 included.
