The Wii U just had another door slammed in its face. Poor Wii U.
In response to a user on Twitter asking why Dead Island: Riptide isn't coming to Wii U, Deep Silver replied with the following:
We looked at whether it would be worth releasing it on Wii U, but decided against it.
Deep Silver isn't the only developer that hasn't been willing to take the plunge. At this point it's not only a matter of having to put in extra time to utilize the Wii U's unique characteristics, but doing it for a platform that doesn't have that large of an audience. The Wii U's touchpad is proving to be a barrier in a similar way the PlayStation 3's cell processor was; it hasn't proved particularly useful and is an unnecessary headache for developers.
More than anything, the Wii U's poor software sales are a serious concern. Until the Wii U can prove that it's worth the investment, developers are going to continue saying things on Twitter that make Nintendo fanboys rage.
