Unfortunately, getting PS4 Remote Play up and running on your iPhone or iPad is a little complicated. That’s what we’re here for, however. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions below to get PS4 iOS Remote Play:

  • Update your PS4 to version 6.50
  • Download PS4 Remote Play from the App Store on your compatible device
  • Open the app and sign in using your PlayStation Network account

After going through all this, your PS4 Remote Play should be up and running on iOS. Make sure to turn on your PS4, head into settings, then Remote Play Connection Settings, and choose to Enable Remote Play. You shouldn’t have to do this again once both the app and PS4 are setup correctly and as long as the account you used to sign in on the app is activated as the primary user on your PS4.

Remember, your PS4 will need to be on in order to use Remote Play, as it is streaming content between the two devices. Each time you open the Remote Play app, it will connect to your PS4.

There are a few words of warning with Remote Play to bear in mind. On top of not all games being supported, you will need a strong internet connection (it won’t work using mobile data) and the DualShock 4 isn’t compatible. To play any game using Remote Play on an iPhone or iPad, we’d recommend purchasing a decent mobile gaming controller. The touchscreen overlays are fiddly, to say the least.

Remote play is great for using the PS4 menus and talking to online friends, with quick chat options available thanks to the on-screen keyboard.
