Rest Easy, The Witcher 3 Will Be DRM-Free

CD Projekt RED has confirmed that their upcoming game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won't be hidden behind any kind of infuriating digital rights protection. It goes without saying that is is better for gamers, but on the downside makes the game far easier to pirate.

Game designer Maciej Szczesnik told Kotaku that this isn't a major concern for the team. “We are trying to get rid of DRM. If someone wants to pirate a game, eventually he will,” Szczesnik explained.

Adam Badowski, the studio's managing director followed that statement by saying, “Which is bad, of course. But you can’t do anything about it, so. We want to give the best user experience possible. When we removed DRM, people on those torrents were actually asking people not to download our game, because we [weren't using DRM].”

I've gotta give major props to CD Projekt for doing right by the gamer first and foremost. And you should too.
