Yacht Club Games is getting ready to announce a new game from its publishing arm. The Yacht Club Games new game was teased in a recent email from the company behind Shovel Knight.
Yacht Club Games is finally fulfilling its Kickstarter promises for Shovel Knight. The studio will have demos for Shovel Knight: King of Cards and Shovel Knight: Showdown at PAX East 2019. Alongside the latest Shovel Knight, a new Yacht Club Games-published title will be revealed. Not much — including a title — was revealed about the game. But an atmospheric GIF was included in Yacht Club’s email.
The game will be the second published by Yacht Club Games, who published the physical compilation Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack in 2016. Yacht Club Games’ new game is set in a destroyed, possibly futuristic city. The character looks similar to Capcom’s Strider and Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden. A hands-on demo of the new title will be at PAX East, alongside the game’s full reveal.
Yacht Club Games released Shovel Knight in June 2014 on PC, 3DS, and Wii U before porting the game to just about any other console imaginable over the following years. The company crowdfunded the title for over $300,000. Since it’s release, two brand-new campaigns were added with Plague of Shadows and Specter of Torment. This year’s King of Cards and Showdown expansions will be the final pieces of content added to Shovel Knight.
Speculation online is pointing to this being a publishing-only affair for Yacht Club. One ResetEra user suggests the game might be Cyber Shadow, an indie game being developed by Twitter user @MekaSkull. MekaSkull has been developing Cyber Shadow for over a year, and the game’s overall aesthetic is similar to the teaser included in Yacht Club Games’ email. We’ll know once PAX East rolls around on March 28.
