The Division 2 orange marker diamond

The Division 2 Orange Diamond | What is the orange marker over enemies?

When fighting waves of enemies in The Division 2, you’ll notice that some of them will have an orange diamond over their heads. However, the game doesn’t go out of its way to explain why some enemies have this orange marker over their heads in The Division 2, and some don’t. This isn’t something that happened in the original game, so what gives?

What does the orange marker over enemy’s heads mean in The Division 2?

The Division 2 orange diamond marker

The orange diamond is actually one of my favorite quality of life features introduced in The Division 2. When you’re fighting waves of enemies in the game, it can be tough to keep track of where all your foes are. This is especially true if you’re someone who likes fighting from afar with a marksman or sniper rifle.

In the original game, it was sometimes hard to tell where those final few enemies of a wave were at times. Both the environments in the original The Division and its sequel can be pretty expansive, and at times they’re shrouded in shadow.

The orange marker will appear above enemies in The Division 2 when you’re down to the last few enemies in a wave. This allows you to quickly identify and take out the stragglers so you can keep moving through a mission without having to do any annoying hunting around.

One thing to note is that the orange diamond will only appear in The Division 2 when killing a group of enemies is part of your mission objective. If you’re just out free roaming, you’re on your own. The enemy marker is only meant to be a helpful little addition to the game that prevents some of the more frustrating moments when fighting in a large arena. It doesn’t mean that the enemy it’s marking is particularly special, it just highlights the next person to shoot.
